Dreissenid management has focused primarily on chemical tools which are efficacious, but not without ecological or economic costs. There is a need for additional control tools that are less expensive, readily available, and will not leave a residue after treatment. Carbon dioxide has these advantages over chemical pesticides and has demonstrated effectiveness for control of a range of aquatic invasive species, including dreissenid mussels. Carbon dioxide was lethal to adult zebra mussels at levels that were safe to juvenile unionid mussels and lower levels cause detachment and gaping. Using high-resolution sonar technologies with geographic information systems (GIS) and object based image analysis, benthic characteristics of the Illinois River have been interpreted to support invasive carp research, monitoring and control. The study plan consisted of data collection and analysis of the Brandon, Dresden, Starved Rock, Marseilles, Peoria, La Grange and Alton reaches of the Illinois River. Reaches with larger aquatic areas (Peoria, La Grange and Alton), had areas prioritized for data collection and analysis.
This ArcGIS Add-In tool assigns telemetry receivers a “river address,” with the National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) flowlines providing the river name (analogous to a street name in a postal address) and a distance along flowline (the house number in a postal address). Using this information, it is possible to sequence receivers along a flowline. Once sequenced, receiver data can then be analyzed to identify where receivers are being bypassed by receiver tags, or if there are instances of improbable tag movement between receivers.

This dataset captures the Zebra Mussel dose-response to four independent toxicants and each binary mixture of those toxicants. Toxicants included EarthTec QZ, Clam-Trol CT-2 (syn. Spectrus CT1300), niclosamide, and potassium chloride. Each dose of toxicant was verified with either ICP-OES or UHPLC, depending on analyte, and comparison to a standard curve. Mortality was tabulated for each observation.

A dataset consisting of the documented year of first arrival of Pseudogymnoascus destructans (Pd) at 596 locations across North America was used to fit a Gaussian process model. The model allows prediction of the year of first arrival of Pd at arbitrary locations. The included dataset consists of these predictions which span the North American continent.

The National Park Service (NPS) partnered with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) to collect hydroacoustic data of the Mississippi River for the development of high-resolution bathymetry and sidescan imagery. The combined datasets will provide key components to characterizing benthic habitat. These information needs were highly desired by the NPS to more accurately assess environmental factors that influence native mussel distribution. Executing the Dwell Time analysis condenses receiver/tag records into readable records of fish movement and receiver effectiveness. Fish movement is described by a temporal sequence of receiver/tag events (durations), where a tag is visible to a specific receiver or collection of receivers. The number and frequency of contacts within a receiver/tag event are summarized by the analysis. A receiver/tag event ends, and a new receiver/tag event begins when the tag is visible to a different set of receivers. The dataset is comprised of historical observations and predictions of winter colony counts at known sites for three bat species (Myotis lucifugus, Myotis septentrionalis, and Perimyotis subflavus). Predictions of abundance are made at each site for each year from 1990 to 2020. Predictions come from three models, including a piecewise constant interpolation model, and two variations of a log linear mixed effects model. These predictions were used in part to inform the SSA for the three bat species. The dataset is comprised of site-level, regional-level, and species-level future population projections for three bat species (Myotis lucifugus, Myotis septentrionalis, and Perimyotis subflavus) under several future scenarios. Future scenarios can be used to assess population health, and were used in part to inform the SSA for the three bat species. Many different future scenarios are included, defined based on future wind development and white-nose syndrome impacts. To ensure habitat restoration efforts are targeted towards areas maximizing monarch population growth, it is important to understand the effects of landscape heterogeneity on monarch occurrence in habitat patches (i.e. grasslands with milkweeds). Over two summers (2018-2019), monarch adults, larvae, and eggs were surveyed at sixty grassland sites in Wisconsin varying in patch size and landscape context. Milkweed density and floral richness were also estimated to characterize local patch quality. Results suggest that optimal sites for monarch habitat restoration are within landscapes with less surrounding habitat and that high milkweed density and floral richness should be conservation goals.

These are data associated with water column incubation experiments performed in the Fox rivermouth. The Fox River is a Lake Michigan tributary that enters Green Bay. These experiments are used to measure the transformation of inorganic and total dissolved nutrients occurring in the surface water of the rivermouth. Experiments had light and dark treatments, and some experiments were paired with experiments where nutrients were increased in initial spikes. Ancillary data associated with the experiments such as photosyntheticly active radiation (PAR) and chlorophyll a content are also included. This product is a media player application and user guide. The application generates set-interval and random-interval media play schedules. When the application is used to execute the play schedule, it creates its own metadata documentation. The Carp Media Player documents the intended play schedule, generates a real-time log of the media played, and documents if there were any interruptions.
