The Florida Geological Survey (FGS) has historically held geologic samples from bordering areas for better understanding of the regional geology. This collection includes cuttings, continuous core, and core chips from Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, the Bahamas, Cuba, and offshore. In the 1990s, a majority of out-of-state wells were returned to their home states if the state surveys wanted them. Additional samples were discarded if they were of poor quality or missing locational information. The samples in this collection include several samples that remained after this clean out process as well as some from recent projects.

Cores of surficial sediments (loess, till, alluvium, etc.) and soil.Cores of unconsolidated surficial sediments and soils, primarily in eastern Nebraska, were drilled almost exclusively by hollow-stem augering. Some shallow Giddings probe cores also exist in the collections.

Miscellaneous field notebooks from survey personnel, mostly dating prior to 1970. Field notes from current and past employees of the Conservation and Survey Division. These materials are to be left with the organization upon retirement, but this policy has not been enforced.

This collection includes lantern slides, 35mm slides, black and white negatives, and various prints taken by Florida Geological Survey staff. Images include fossil and mineral specimens, examples of hydrogeologic land formations, outcrops, and mining sites. The physical collection of historical photos is housed in the FGS library. The collection of 35mm slides are stored in binders while lantern slides are stored in archival envelops in a file cabinet. Scan thumbnails are available and searchable at https://resourcespace.dep.state.fl.us/pages/home.php. Larger files are available on request. Select historic images are also available at https://www.floridamemory.com.

Various kinds of Geoscientific reports are published as Bulletins, Geologic Series Reports, Open-file Reports, and Technical Memorandums. Contact the NJGWS for further information.
This data release is a collection of data and field notes documenting snow and ice changes on South Cascade Glacier, Washington, USA. The field records relate to glaciological research and reflect evolving interpretations of glacier mass balance, climatology, hydrology, and other glacier-related research conducted at the site between 1957 to 2022 in association with the USGS Benchmark Glacier Project. Notebooks have been scanned in their entirety in PDF format. The USGS Benchmark Glacier Project has monitored targeted mountain glaciers across North America since research was initiated at South Cascade Glacier in 1957. Data from the five benchmark glaciers located in Alaska, Washington, and Montana, provide continental-scale...

The NJ Ambient Ground Water Quality Monitoring Network is a 150 monitoring well network designed to evaluate the status of and trends in shallow ground-water as a function of land use related non-point source contamination. Ambient Ground-Water Quality Monitoring Network Data This network is the only statewide shallow ground-water network in New Jersey that characterizes non-point impacts as a function of land use.

The Florida Geological Survey maintains a collection of over 8,000 outcrop samples, mineral specimens, and manufacturing products from Florida. These samples are part of a large collection referred to as the “M-Series,” which also includes 400 specimens from out-of-state. The M-Series is particularly valuable given Florida’s high rate of growth and development. Surface exposures of critical lithologies have become inaccessible with the continued proliferation of roadways, shopping centers, parking lots and high-rise housing. The collection is housed in cardboard boxes and stored on rolling shelving units. Currently, work is being done to correlate these specimens to unique geologic exposure locations throughout...
