Arimetco, Inc. was a mining company with properties in Arizona and Nevada. The collection contains economic geologic information on a limited number of properties, notably the Zonia Mine, Yavapai County, and the Courtland-Gleeson Project in Cochise County. The collection consists of geologic reports, maps, assays, drill logs and related materials.

The Florida Geological Survey (FGS) maintains a collection of geophysical logs run on water production wells, monitor wells, injection wells, oil and gas wells, and stratigraphic testing boreholes throughout the state. The collection represents approximately 5,320 boreholes, some of which are also represented in the core and well cuttings sample collection. The collection includes the following log types: Spontaneous Potential (SP), Single Point Resistance (SPR), Time, Caliper, Fluid Conductivity, Magnetic, Electrical Induction, Natural Gamma, Dipmeter, Laterolog, Micro Laterolog, Neutron, Photo, Radioactivity, Sonic, Temperature, Gamma-Gamma, Resistivity, and Fluid Velocity. The collection contains logs run by...

The Florida Geological Survey (FGS) holds a collection of over 9,000 lithologic descriptions of cores and cuttings from boreholes throughout Florida. This includes legacy logs previously stored in a file format requiring a DOS program to decode. Paper copies of a majority of legacy lithologic logs are stored in 150 large, green loose-leaf binders collectively named “Greenbooks,” (see the Collection of Borehole and Sample Reference Documents from Florida). The legacy files represent 60% of the collection and are currently being prepared for import into the FGS’s database to be made publicly available. The remaining 40% of the collection exist in various formats (both coded and decoded), which the FGS is working to...

Until 2007, when they transferred to the FDEP Division of Water Resource Management’s Mining and Mitigation Program, the Florida Geological Survey (FGS) had an Oil and Gas section who maintained a collection comprised of: permit application and compliance documents; well logs and well test data; monthly production data; and inspection photographs. Once stored in 54, four-drawer legal-sized file cabinets and organized by the permit number, the documents were scanned in batches and transferred back to the FGS. They are currently stored in rolling shelves organized by their scan batch numbers. Scanned documents that are not confidential are available on OCULUS (https://depedms.dep.state.fl.us/Oculus/), a CMS utilized...

The UGS Aerial Imagery Collection contains aerial photography of Utah originally taken from 1935 to the present, and includes over 125,000 frames and associated indexes, orthophotomaps (semi-controlled orthophotos), and other materials. Aerial photographs are highly sought after for use in geologic, geotechnical, and environmental investigations to document geologic hazards, land-use, geomorphologic, and other changes that may have occurred in a particular area, along with mapping geology, cultural, and vegetation features. The collection contains scanned images of aerial photograhs of Utah and a 0.2 degree buffer beyond the boundaries of Utah from 1935 to the present. Imagery indexes are available in the UGS...

Coal production history includes historical company names, mine names, mine location, seam mined, and years of operation, for documented coal mines in Illinois, as well as coverages of mine outlines and shaft, slope, drift, and tipple locations. Most of this information is available online as maps and reports at http://www.isgs.uiuc.edu/maps-data-pub/coal-maps.shtml.

This collection consists of "Geologic and Seismic Investigation" reports along existing and/or proposed state roads and interstates. These were prepared as part of a USGS cooperative program with the then-called Massachusetts Department of Public Works (MDPW) in the 1960's. These investigations and reports were prepared by geologists such as R.N. Oldale, C.R. Tuttle and L.W. Currier. The seismic data consists of seismic refraction profiles. The reports are stored at MHD headquarters in the Transportation Building at 10 Park Plaza, Boston. This collection consists of many "Geologic and Seismic Investigation" reports along existing and/or proposed state roads and interstates. These were prepared as part of a USGS...

The Coal Quality Data Collection includes results of laboratory analysis for 375 coal samples collected as part of a cooperative sampling program between DGMR and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The samples were collected by DGMR staff during the period from 1975 to 1988 from a six county area in the Southwest Virginia Coalfield. A total of 38 coal beds are represented in the sampling program. For each sample location there are laboratory results for Proximate and Ultimate analysis, ash-fusion temperatures, and major- and minor- element analyses.

The Aerial Photographs Collection consists of high- and low-altitude, black and white (B/W) and color (C) aerial photographs taken between 1936 and 2002. Flight coverage is mainly in Virginia, but there is also overlap into the adjoining states of Kentucky, Maryland, and West Virginia. Photo coverage is not complete for the entire state for any given flight year. A minor part of the collection (<5%) includes infrared photos. The photos are generally in paper format and suitable for use as stereo pairs. Many of the photos were taken during 1950-60 as part of the U.S. Geological Survey program to photo-revise the topographic map series. Photo-mosaic index maps are unavailable for many of the flight missions.
