In this data release, Cenozoic calcareous nannofossil occurrence charts are provided as Microsoft Excel spreadsheets for 17 cores from the South Atlantic Coastal Plain (North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia) Samples have been assigned a USGS sample number and are organized by depth below the land surface. Based on their known stratigraphic position, lithology, and specific calcareous nannofossil species content, each sample, where possible, was assigned to a geologic formation, age, and standard Martini (1971) calcareous nannofossil biostratigraphic zone. Collection consist of Western Interior Upper Cretaceous ammonites and Inoceramids featuring stratigraphic and spatial data. Data is primarily type fossils from the USGS Denver Mesozoic Invertebrate Catalog created and maintained by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Data was collected by paleontologist William A. Cobban during his sixty years of service within the USGS Paleontology And Stratigraphy Branch and Geologic Mapping Team. His catalogs were converted into digital form, Excel and Filemaker Pro database. The Catalog is 14595 fossil localities.
