This data package is comprised of three tables with data from wintering Harlequin Ducks (Histrionicus histrionicus) from Alaska, British Columbia, Washington, Maine, Greenland, and Iceland. The first table contains available allele sizes for 7 microsatellite loci (Sfiµ1, Sfiµ4, Sfiµ9, Sfiµ10, Bcaµ10, Hhiµ2, Hhiµ5) and mtDNA control region haplotypes. The second table contains the mtDNA control region sequences used to assign haplotypes. The third table provides the geographic locations of sampling sites.
This dataset consists of drainage basin boundaries for selected transboundary basins draining to the Gulf of Alaska in south-east Alaska. Basins were delineated to the basin outlet using a tidal datum of mean high water (MHW). The drainage basins are provided as polygons attributed with basin drainage area and as polylines attributed with the data source for each line segment, respectively.

We are provoding a set of table and maps that provides summary of ecosystem carbon balance (pools and fluxes) as simulated by the Dynamic Organic Soil version of the Terrestrial Ecosystem Model. Simulations are provided for the historical period from 1950 to 2009 and projections from 2010 to 2099, for the four main landscape conservation cooperative regions in Alaska (i.e. the Arctic, the Western Alaska, the North Pacific and the Northwest Boreal LCCs). Projections have been conducted at 1km-resolution for two set of climate scenarios for the A1B, B1 and A2 emission scenarios of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Special Report on Emissions Scenarios (IPCC-SRES). The two global circulation models used...

This data release provides seven datasets of soil and vegetation data from lake margin soils from throughout the Yukon Flats National Wildlife Refuge. Data includes multiple lakes that are defined as either stable or drying. Lake margin vegetation communities include graminoid, shrub, and forest. Sols are separated into organic and mineral layers. Microbial data includes different phospholipid fatty acids and soil enzyme activity data for multiple enzymes involved in C,N, and P cycling. Data also includes information on respiration rate constants (k) and labile substrate pool (Ao) from soil incubations. Other soil chemical attributes such as soil pH, electrical conductivity, percent C and percent N are also included.
Black Oystercatcher Morphology and Primary Feather Lengths in Alaska and British Columbia, 2019-2022
These data provide morphological measurements and primary feather length measurements of Black Oystercatcher (Haematopus bachmani) captured at several sites across Alaska and British Columbia between 2019 and 2022. The first table contains mass and morphological measurements of body and bill size. The second table provides lengths of individual primary feathers measured from folded wing photographs using a computer software. These feather lengths are to be used in a size-constrained components analysis to calculate wing shape such as pointedness and convexity.

This data set is comprised of one table with sampling information and National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) BioProject accession numbers for sequence information of this amplicon-based study targeting Elodea canadensis and E. nuttallii in freshwater systems of Alaska from environmental samples. Highly conserved primers which can differentiate these species of interest were developed for four portions of Elodea mtDNA genes (ITS1-5.8S, atpB-rbcL, and two variations of trnL-trnF). The reference sequences and conserved primer sets to identify species present were developed using publicly available data from NCBI GenBank (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/genbank/).
This data release consists of a comma-delimited ascii file with attributes for 21 U.S. Geological Survey streamgage sites in Hawai‘i and Southeast Alaska selected to enable assessment of how floods might change in a future climate. Floods in Hawai‘i and Southeast Alaska have led to loss of human life; damage to agricultural crops, cultural and biological resources, infrastructure, and property; threats to public health; and conditions that are highly disruptive to residents and visitors. Floods are generated by atmospheric and terrestrial processes that may be enhanced or depressed in response to climate change. Understanding the mechanisms that generate floods can be useful for assessing how floods may change in...
This data package includes 481 geospatial vector polygons of historic fire perimeters associated with National Wildlife Refuges in Alaska. These polygons, originally held within the Alaska Large Fire Database (ALFD), were reviewed and found to have geospatial inaccuracies with respect to the fire they represent. They were corrected and updated based on a variety of remote sensing resources; the Monitoring Trends in Burn Severity (MTBS) database (https://www.mtbs.gov/viewer/index.html), geospatial rasters of historic fire activity derived from Landsat 1-9 imagery in the Google Earth Engine(https://earthengine.google.com) environment, and historical air photos acquired through EarthExplorer (https://earthexplorer.usgs.gov/)....
Boreal Partners in Flight developed the Alaska Landbird Monitoring Survey (ALMS) primarily to monitor breeding populations of landbirds in the vast off-road areas of Alaska in conjunction with data collected from the roadside North American Breeding Bird Survey (BBS). ALMS is a collaborative program in which agencies and other entities conduct standardized surveys of breeding birds and their habitats on the lands they manage and then provide the data to the U.S. Geological Survey Alaska Science Center for analysis and archiving. The ALMS monitoring program comprises a set of survey blocks that have been selected in a stratified-random design primarily across state and Federal natural resource lands in Alaska with...
This dataset contains 474 drainage basin boundaries for U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) streamgages in Alaska, including supplemental drainage basin boundaries for alternate conditions for 3 of the 471 streamgages. The basin boundaries were delineated from the streamgage location to the nearest USGS Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD) HUC boundary and along HUC boundaries from that intersection to the basin headwaters. The dataset also includes the streamgage locations used for delineation, which consist of points snapped from the streamgage coordinates in the USGS National Water Information System to the USGS National Hydrography Dataset flowline representing the respective streams. Streamgages selected for drainage...
